9 Steps to Reset Restrictions Using iBackupBot
You can also download iBackupBot to find the restrictions code.
Note: Someone hat reported that this method doesn't work, while others find it works for them.
Step 1: Go to http://www.icopybot.com/itunes-backup-manager.htm and download the PC or Mac version to your computer. Ensure that you download iBackupBot and not iCopyBot.
Step 2: Open the file and install it on your computer. Open the program. It will start to load the backup information for your device. This process takes some time. If you see an error message appear during this process, simply click “OK” and the program will load what it can.
Step 3: When it’s done, you will see a folder for your iPhone near the top. Open the folder and then select the “System Files Folder.”
Step 4: Select “HomeDomain” from the list.
Step 5: Then, open the Library folder.
Step 6: Then Open “Preferences.” Type com.apple.re and then tap enter on your keyboard. Find the option that says com.apple.restrictionspasscode.plist and click on it. A popup window will appear asking for your registration information. Press “OK” and then “OK” again and then select “Cancel”
Step 7: Next, open a browser window and go to http://ios7hash.derson.us/ and the copy the code in iBackupBot under “Restrictions Password Key” and then paste it into the appropriate location on the website. Do the same for “Restrictions Password Salt.”
Step 8: Leave the “Starting Passcode” at 0000 and the “Last Search Code” at 9999 and click on “Search for Code.” The process will take some time depending on your passcode numbers.
Step 9: Once the code has been found, a popup window will appear with your 4-digit passcode.
This works for iOS 7, 8,9 and 10 and it is by far the easiest way to get your passcode. You can now just open Restrictions on your iPhone, enter the passcode and turn Restrictions off if you need to.
4 Erase Your Device with iTunes, iCloud or Recovery Mode
If you’d rather not use a third-party solution to get your passcode back, you can always erase the device either with iCloud, iTunes or using recovery mode. This will completely erase the device and its passcode.
01 How to erase your device with iTunes
If you had synced your device with iTunes, here’s how to restore the device.
Step 1: Connect the device to your computer and then open iTunes. Wait for the iPhone to sync with iTunes and create a backup.
Step 2: Once the backup is complete, click “Restore iPhone.”
