Apple Sued for Reportedly Selling iTunes User Data

It feels like almost every single day, Apple gets sued for something. We previously reported on a widow winning a case over access to her dead husband’s iCloud account, as well as the “Apple Monopoly” case where Apple has been accused of creating a monopoly over the App Store. Now it’s time for yet another lawsuit, this time over privacy.

Apple has been very loud in it’s “What happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone” ad campaign, however, does that include MacBooks and other Apple devices running iTunes? Because if it does, someone may be in trouble. Three unnamed individuals have filed a court case against Apple, for selling iTunes user data to third-parties.

The lawsuit, filled in California, accuses the Cupertino company of selling data regarding what users are listening to, liking and adding to their playlists via iTunes and Apple Music.

Apple is a very strong advocate for privacy in the technology community, making the whole case quite ironic. Apple has stepped up against organisations like the FBI in the past over a single iPhone, just to show off how much they care about their user privacy. On top of that, the company has multiple times released posts, ad-campaigns and much more addressing privacy as the reason to use Apple devices.

If this case proves to be true, Apple could risk their whole privacy-oriented reputation.

2019 iPhone 11 Could Stream Audio to Two Bluetooth Devices Simultaneously

A new supply chain says that the iPhone 11 will support streaming content to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. The feature will allow iPhone users to listen to music or stream music to two devices at once.

The feature is already found on Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S and Note series since the last couple of years. Samsung first debuted this feature with the Galaxy S8 in 2017 and other Android OEMs like Motorola have since offered similar functionality in their smartphones.

This feature is actually a part of Bluetooth 5.0 and while the iPhone X and iPhone XS feature the same version of Bluetooth, they don’t support Dual Bluetooth streaming.

By default, while iPhones and other smartphones can connect to multiple Bluetooth devices at once, they can only stream audio to one of them at any given time.

This might not be a groundbreaking feature per se but some iPhone users are definitely going to find it useful.

Apart from the ability to stream audio to two Bluetooth devices at once, the 2019 iPhones are going to come with minor design changes. This includes a single frosted glass panel encompassing the rear cameras, triple rear cameras for the iPhone XS successors, bigger batteries, reverse wireless charging, and more. The Face ID hardware will also be upgraded to make it faster and feature a wider angle of view.

Our Take
Leaks have already given us a good idea of what the 2019 iPhones will pack. It does not seem like they will pack any breakthrough feature in terms of hardware. Most of the additions that Apple plans to make have already been implemented by other Android OEMs, including reverse wireless charging, ultra-wide angle cameras, and more.

Foxconn to Start Commercial Production of iPhone X in India from July

Foxconn to Start Commercial Production of iPhone X in India from July

Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn will start the mass production of the iPhone X for Apple in India from July. The production will take place in Foxconn’s production facility outside of Chennai.

The report cites that Foxconn will start manufacturing the iPhone X range for Apple so it is unclear if it is only talking about the iPhone X or other devices as well like the iPhone XS and iPhone XR.

“Foxconn will begin with the iPhoneX (range) from the Chennai plant. The plans are to step up production capacity and diversify to even higher models going forward,” said an official privy to the company’s plans, on conditions of anonymity. Also Read:sites Like PrimeWire

A report from earlier this month had claimed that Foxconn was weeks away from starting the trial production of iPhone X in India. Apple’s other manufacturing partner, Wistron, has already started producing the iPhone 7 locally in the country.

Foxconn is reportedly investing $300 million to set up iPhone X production facility in India. It will look to scale up production and its investment depending on the demand, the incentives Apple receives from the next Indian government for manufacturing iPhones locally in India, and more.
Our Take

Apple has recently taken a number of steps to help improve its presence and sales in India. It reduced the iPhone XR price in the country by almost 25 percent thereby making it better poised to compete against the likes of the Galaxy S10, Huawei P30 Pro, and other new Android flagships.

The local manufacturing of the iPhone X and newer iPhones in India will also benefit Apple as it will allow the company to save up on customs duties. This, in turn, will allow it to price its handsets more sensibly in the country which in turn should help the poor iPhone sales in India.

How to Add Rooms and Set Up Zones in HomeKit

In Apple's Home app, you can add your HomeKit accessories to different rooms for organizational purposes. Once you've done that, you can group together similar rooms into zones which allows you to control them all at once, either by room or by zone. Keep reading to learn how it works.

How to Add Rooms to the Home App

Before you can add rooms to the Home app you need to add some HomeKit accessories to it. Once you've done that, you can follow the steps below to add rooms.

Launch the Home app on your iPhone or iPad.

Press and hold on an accessory.

Tap Settings.

Tap Room.

Tap Create New and enter the name of your room, or choose from the suggested room names.

Tap Done.

Once you've assigned a room to an accessory, that room will appear in the above list of available rooms to make it easy to add further devices. You can access rooms you've set up by tapping the Room tab and then tapping the menu button in the top-left of the screen.

How to Group Rooms into Zones

Grouping rooms together into a zone, like upstairs or downstairs, allows you to control several rooms using a single Siri command. For example, you could simply say "Hey Siri, turn off the lights downstairs" when you're making your way up to bed for the night.

Launch the Home app on your iPhone or iPad.

Tap the Rooms tab at the bottom of the screen.

Tap the menu button in the top-left corner of the screen.

Tap Room Settings and then select a room.

Tap Zone.

Enter the desired name of your zone or choose a suggested name.

Tap Done.

Repeat steps 3 to 7 to add more rooms to the zone.

Organizing your HomeKit products into rooms and zones is essential for setups that include a large number of HomeKit devices, and it's really useful for HomeKit products like lights, where you might want to turn out all of the lights in a room or in the entire upstairs at one time. Sponsor ads:

Find a Lost iPhone That is Turned Off via Google Timeline

While you are asking yourself the question, “how to find my iPhone when it is turned off,” you should have made the right moves to locate your iPhone. One of such moves is to try and locate your iPhone using Google Timeline by visiting https://www.google.com/maps/timeline. Google timeline records all the location data on your iPhone. Therefore, you can use this tool to track your iPhone’s location including the last location it was used.

NOTE: To use this method, enable location history and reporting on your iPhone.

Visit https://www.google.com/maps/timeline on your browser.

Once the webpage loads, at the top left corner of the page, click on “Today” to open the recent timeline of your iPhone.

Scroll down to the bottom of the timeline to see the last location your iPhone reported.

Check the location data to confirm if your iPhone has been in the same location or has been moved from one place to another. This will help you to know if you have misplaced or lost your iPhone or it has been stolen and is on the move.

Check the map displayed on the screen to pinpoint the location of your iPhone. The map on the screen is powered by Google, and it uses GPS technology to point out the location of your iPhone.

Apple's Beats Brand to Debut New Wire-Free Powerbeats in April

Apple's current Powerbeats earphones

The newly updated AirPods that Apple launched this week feature an updated H1 chip that brings faster switching between devices, quicker connections when making phone calls, "Hey Siri" support and longer talk time, and this chip could also be included in updated Powerbeats.

The W1 chip that Apple used in the previous version of the AirPods was also incorporated into its Beats headphones.

CNET says that the information comes from a source that has provided reliable details on Apple's plans in the past, with Apple's Beats brand set to release the new earphones in April. Compared to the AirPods, the upcoming Powerbeats could offer better bass and water resistance, as well as the ability to better stay in the ears during rigorous activity.

There's no word on what the new Powerbeats will cost. Apple priced the new AirPods with Wireless Charging Case at $199, and current Powerbeats also cost $199, so the price could potentially go up.

It's not clear if there are other headphone updates in the works that would be announced at the same time as the wire-free Powerbeats, but Apple's Beats brand has not introduced a significant update since summer 2018 when the Beats Studio3 Wireless Headphones were updated with a W1 chip. Also Read:4 Best iOS Cleaner Apps to Clear Junk on iPhone/iPad in 2019

Netflix CEO Confirms Netflix Won't Be Part of Apple's Upcoming Video Service

Apple is set to unveil its long-rumored TV service next Monday, and ahead of the event, Netflix has confirmed that it won't be participating in Apple's streaming offering.

At a briefing at the company's headquarters in Hollywood, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said that while Apple is a "great company," Netflix isn't interested in offering its content on other platforms. "We want to have people watch our shows on our services," he said, according to Recode.

Netflix has never embraced Apple TV features like "Up Next" designed to allow Apple TV users to see all of their watched TV shows at a glance, so it's no surprise to hear that Netflix does not plan to offer its content through Apple's upcoming streaming service.

Set to be launched next week, Apple's TV offering will feature both its original content and add-on content from other cable providers like Showtime and HBO. Apple will allow customers to sign up for subscriptions to third-party services like HBO right within the TV app, which will serve as Apple's TV content hub.

Apple's video hub will be similar to what Amazon offers through its Prime Video app. Amazon provides original TV shows along with options to subscribe to premium content through a Channels feature.

In response to a question about how Netflix will compete with Apple and Amazon going forward, Hastings said the company will do so "with difficulty," though he pointed out that Netflix has already been competing with Amazon for years.

"You do your best job when you have great competitors," he said, before admitting that the increased competition has led to higher prices when sourcing content.

Apple is going to give us a first look at its video service on Monday, March 25, at an event set to be held at its Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California. Multiple celebrities that are starring in Apple shows, like Steve Carell, Jennifer Aniston, and Reese Witherspoon, will be present. Also Read:jihosoft Free iPhone Data Recovery
